About Us

Our Mission

Morgan County, WV Indivisible advocates rebuilding our democracy through tireless effort and peaceful civil engagement. We will resist the current status by challenging the oligarchy, holding elected officials accountable and supporting progressive values to reshape an equitable society.

Our Value Statement

Democracy is a shared responsibility. Change takes effort and engagement by many people. We will:

  • Build an inclusive membership
  • Show integrity by leading with honesty and demanding the same of elected officials.
  • Persevere and demonstrate that we are committed to doing the everyday work of organizing, advocating, and showing up.

We’re not the leaders of this movement: YOU ARE!

We are grateful that our public demonstrations in Berkeley Springs have been and will continue to be peaceful, by plan and in practice.

FRIDAY, MAY 1st 4:00 – 5:30 PM We will gather along Washington Street near the Morgan County Courthouse, maintaining 100’ from the courthouse entrances due to Early Voting.

We join the NATIONWIDE MAY DAY ACTION in BERKELEY SPRINGS, WV as we celebrate May 1st, through action and community. We stand together peacefully to SAY NO to Billionaire Corporations and YES to workers and local businesses! We join hundreds of nationwide actions, flexing our collective muscle in a tremendous day of power.

The organizing principles behind this year’s May Day Actions:
*Tax the rich: Our families, not their fortunes, come first.
*No ICE. No war. No private army serving authoritarian power.
*Expand democracy, not corporate power. Hands off our vote.

Showing up matters. We’ve proved that, and we’ll keep proving that. But showing up alone is not enough to stop people who are breaking every rule. We need to show them we have leverage, not just numbers.

National Indivisible is stepping up to add the leverage of economic disruption to May Day Actions— calling for anyone who can to boycott “business as usual” (with no work, no school*, no shopping).

MCI invites you to participate at the level that fits you and your economic circumstances. (*If you are under 18 years old, you must get a parent or guardian’s permission to participate in a walkout from school).

MCI’s specific ask is that you take a day away from purchases that support the big box corporations and billionaires, including online shopping. We encourage you to support local businesses using CASH only — NO CREDIT CARDS that support big banks. No matter how big or small, this only works if we’re all taking action together. And, please, join us on the street to make some noise!

!!! Bring a Sign, a Friend, Your Voice & Joyful Spirit !!!

PLEASE NOTE: A core principle behind all our events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values and to act lawfully at these events. Weapons of any kind, including those legally permitted, should not be brought to events.
