SUMMARY:Thursday Protests at Capito’s & Moore’s Offices in Martinsburg\, WV
DESCRIPTION:Thursdays in August: 8/14\, 8/21\, 8/28 We’ll be PEACEFULLY protesting at Capito’s office at 300 Foxcroft Ave. from 10:00 – 10:50 & then at Moore’s office at 739 Winchester Ave. from 11:00 – noon. \n\n\n\nCapito & Moore have been on recess the whole month of August. This would be a great time for Town Halls — we continue to demand access to our elected members of Congress. \n\n\n\nWe need to continue to let Capito & Moore know WE DO NOT SUPPORT the many  provisions in the reconciliation bill that are devastating for the citizens of West Virginia\, their constituents. We will hold them accountable for their betrayal. \n\n\n\nWe currently have an authoritarian regime that is undermining the foundations of our Democratic Republic\, including the role of Congress\, and our elected members officials are ceding their power to Trump. Our institutions are being trampled on or destroyed and our rights are being curtailed. We need our representatives to stand up for what is best for West Virginians.  \n\n\n\nIF YOU CARE ABOUT our Democracy\, our Constitution & the Bill of Rights\, the Rule of Law\, Due Process for all\, the practice of kidnapping and disappearing undocumented immigrants & citizens from our communities without due process\, our Economy\, our Standing in the World\, Civil Rights\, our Justice System\, Medicaid\, SNAP\, Education\, Veterans\, the Arts\, the Environment\, Public Lands\, Science\, Medical Research\, Consumer Protections\, Workers’ Rights\, NOAA\, Americorps\, Head Start\, Meals-on-Wheels\, the Free Press\, NPR & PBS…the list is long\, WE WELCOME YOU TO JOIN US! \n\n\n\nBring your SPIRIT\, your VOICE\, a FRIEND\, & a SIGN! \n\n\n\nThere will be extra signs if you need one. \n\n\n\nPlease note: A core principle behind all our events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values. \n\n\n\nThe crew from Berkeley Springs will meet at Black Cat Music Shop at 9:00 to carpool to Martinsburg. Please RSVP to mcwvindivisible@gmail.com if you can\, so we’ll have a number for carpooling. If you are willing to drive\, please note that.

SUMMARY:One Million Rising: Strategic Non-Cooperation to Fight Authoritarianism- Session 3 of 3
DESCRIPTION:One day mass mobilizations like No Kings Day are incredible shows of movement energy\, but they are\, by definition\, confined to a single day. To defeat MAGA\, we’re going to have to mobilize more people\, and we’re going to have to do it on a sustained basis. That’s where One Million Rising comes in. \n\n\n\nThe success of an authoritarian takeover is dependent upon a population choosing to comply. It only takes a (relatively) small number of people practicing non-cooperation to make implementation of their fascist ideals impossible — so let’s train one million. \n\n\n\nIf we can motivate\, train\, and equip this movement in the practice of strategic non-cooperation\, we can disrupt\, delay\, and even\, at times\, make it impossible for this administration to enact corrupt policy. \n\n\n\nWe’re breaking this down into three sessions — join us for all three if you can! (Yes\, they’ll be recorded if you can’t.) \n\n\n\nThis is the next stage of the Indivisible movement: Indivisible activists moving their friends\, family\, and acquaintances from doom scrolling to active resistance. \n\n\n\nIt is vital to our ability to slow down\, stop\, and ultimately defeat Trump’s authoritarian takeover. \n\n\n\nWhether you’re an experienced group leader or joining one of our trainings for the first time\, One Million Rising will bring you critical insights into how we move forward as a movement in the face of a Trump regime that does not care about rules\, laws\, or the courts. \n\n\n\nJoin us for One Million Rising beginning Wednesday\, August 13. \n\n\n\nSession 3: What Now?Wednesday\, August 13 at 8pm ET/5pm PT \n\n\n\nYou’ll be onboarded to basic campaign design and learn how to implement it locally. We’ll also get you plugged into our next national campaign. \n\n\n\nhttps://www.mobilize.us/nokings/event/803953/…

SUMMARY:A (Phone) Jammin’ Party!
DESCRIPTION:Our national group has put together a great campaign called ” 50 Days of Shame” which runs from June 16-August 6th. \n\n\n\nEach of the US’ 50 states was assigned a specific day to shine the light of shame upon our legislators\, and West Virginia’s day is this Sunday\, July 20th. As one of three different way we’re participating\, we’re going to “jam” the phone lines of US Legislators who (supposedly) represent West Virginia\, and let them know EXACTLY how we feel. \n\n\n\nYou can call from home- even wearing your pajamas! Just make sure to leave them a message as the offices will be closed. \n\n\n\nDemand they: \n\n\n\n\nSave funding for for NPR & PBS\n\n\n\nRelease Epstein files\n\n\n\nSTOP disappearing our neighbors\n\n\n\nUnmask ICE agents\n\n\n\nCondemn the use of military against Americans\n\n\n\nFund US weather prediction and climate science\n\n\n\nDefend CDC funding and programs\n\n\n\nRestore funding for medical and cancer research\n\n\n\nProtect the rights of people with disabilities\n\n\n\nRestore funding and programs for FEMA\n\n\n\nOr any other topic important to you…..\n\n\n\n\nCall Senator Jim Justice at 604 342-5855 and 202 224-3954.Call Senator Shelley Moore-Capito at 304 262-9285 and 202 224-6472Call Representative Riley Moore at 304 225-2711 and 304 350 6987Leave your name and WV zip code \n\n\n\nBest to focus on ONE TOPIC per call\, but there’s no reason you can’t call multiple times and leave multiple messages\, right? The point is to “jam” their phone lines and message capacity\, so let’s get busy dialing. Then log into our Facebook group at 5:00pm so we can recap who we called and what we said. \n\n\n\nSharing is caring. SUMMARY:JOIN US FOR SOME GOOD TROUBLE on THURSDAY JULY 17th 5:30-7:00pm at the COURTHOUSE in BERKELEY SPRINGS\, WV
DESCRIPTION:Our nation has survived many trials in 250 years. This one is ours\, and it’s a doozy. Not every generation goes down in the history books as heroes and reformers. But this is our lot and our calling. We shall do it with determination\, ingenuity\, and pride. And when this is over\, after we have shed the skin of the past\, we shall rebuild with compassion and courage. \n\n\n\nGood Trouble Lives On National Day of Action has been an annual event for the past five years in memory of the late civil rights activist and U.S. Congressman John Lewis. Coined by him\, “Good Trouble” is the act of coming together to take peaceful\, non-violent action to challenge injustice and create meaningful change. On July 17th our community is coming together to carry forward his fight for justice\, voting rights and dignity for all. \n\n\n\nThis moment demands action. Our democracy is under siege. The Trump administration has launched one of the most aggressive attacks on our civil and human rights in a generation\, from voter suppression laws like the SAVE Act to criminalizing protest and silencing our voices. \n\n\n\nThis is more than a protest\, it’s a moral reckoning. A continuation of the movement Lewis helped lead\, and a new front in the struggle for freedom. \n\n\n\nWe will make it clear: IN AMERICA\, THE POWER LIES WITH THE PEOPLE. Let’s get into Good Trouble for democracy\, for justice\, and each other. \n\n\n\n✌🏼❤️✌🏼💙✌🏼❤️✌🏼💙✌🏼❤️✌🏼💙✌🏼 \n\n\n\nPlease note: a core principle behind our John Lewis Good Trouble Day actions is a commitment to nonviolence in all we do. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values.

SUMMARY:NO Kings- Rally in Berkeley Springs (wear a hat\, but not a crown)
DESCRIPTION:On June 14 —Flag Day— Trump will throw himself a lavish military parade; a spectacle meant to look like strength. But real power isn’t staged in Washington. It rises up everywhere else with protests all across the country. We’re not gathering to feed his ego. We’re building a movement that leaves him behind. \n\n\n\nHere in Berkeley Springs we’re having a MILLINERY MARCH (in place)! It’s a No Crowns affair\, but we can wear other kinds of hats! Let’s have some fun while showing the wannabe-king what democracy looks like. Wear a silly hat\, a fancy hat\, a vintage hat\, a paper hat? … WHILE HOLDING TRUMP ACCOUNTABLE! \n\n\n\nWe reject Trump’s authoritarian vision and are joining the Nationwide NO KINGS DAY OF DEFIANCE to stand together against cruelty\, corruption\, and authoritarianism. \n\n\n\nThe flag doesn’t belong to President Trump. It belongs to us. We’re not watching history happen. We’re making it. \n\n\n\nWe’re fighting for democracy. Let’s make them listen. \n\n\n\nBRING SIGNS to reflect No Kings! No Corruption! No Authoritarians! Defend our Democracy! \n\n\n\n*A core principle behind all No Kings events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values.* \n\n\n\nBring your SPIRIT\, your VOICE\, a HAT\, a SIGN and a FRIENDExtra signs will be on hand  Flags will be provided \n\n\n\nContact us at mcwvindivisible@gmail.com
